Frequently Asked Questions
Are your services covered by my insurance plan or OHIP?
Most insurance companies provide a set amount of speech and occupational therapy coverage per year per family member. Our services are eligible to be covered by your health plan as we are registered with the province. Please check with your employer or health care provider. Unfortunately, speech therapy is not covered by OHIP.
Do you work with kids on the Autism Spectrum?
Definitely – our SLP’s and OT’s work closely with kids on the spectrum. We employ science-backed, play-based learning to engage with children of all ages. Please see the Autism and Occupational Therapy pages for more info.
I don’t think I have any speech issues but I have been told I do. Can you help?
Absolutely! Sometimes it’s difficult to self-monitor, which means you may not be able to hear your own speech errors. We will lend our professional expertise to help determine if an actual impediment exists and how best to address it.
Where are you located?
We have 3 clinics: One is located in Roncesvalles Village (“Roncy”), another is in Trinity Bellwoods, and our third clinic is at Yonge & College (above College Station). Please see Contact Page for addresses & maps.
What is the Ontario Autism Program (OAP)?
The OAP is a program funded by the province to support children under the age of 18, as well as their caregivers. For more information, visit Ontario Autism Program.
How many sessions will it take for me to be able to speak clearly?
Every person has individual needs and progresses at different rates. There are several factors to consider, including diagnosis, motivation, age, and severity of impediment. After an assessment, we will be able to provide a more accurate timeline and a better indication of expected outcomes.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No, you do not need a referral in order to receive speech therapy services. You may receive a recommendation from a physician, dentist, psychologist, or school, but it isn’t a requirement in order to begin treatment.
I’m not tech-savvy. Can I still do Online Therapy?
Absolutely! Our secure online platform is super-easy to use. Our knowledgeable therapists will happily guide you through it. Please check out our Online Therapy page.
Is my child too young for SLP or OT services?
Parents have a great intuition about their child’s development. If you have any concerns about their progress, it’s never too early to speak with a Speech or Occupational Therapist. We can provide you with information on developmental milestones as well as strategies to help facilitate their development. Check out the Occupational Therapy or the Speech and Language Delays for Infants & Toddlers pages for more info.
Do you travel to us?
We currently provide In-Home services for parts of North York, Mississauga, and Downtown Toronto. We also provide In-School therapy at select schools in Downtown Toronto. There are additional fees for In-Home & In-School visits.
