Kid’s stuttering treatment
Stuttering is a disruption of fluent or smooth speech. This disruption, or dysfluency, can sometimes not only be heard, but also be seen. We can help.
We’ll Show Your Child How To stop Stuttering
Stuttering (or Stammering) can greatly impact the way your child participates in school, socializes with peers, or even interacts at home.
We understand how stuttering can effect a child’s relationships and are here to help. We will assess your child’s speech and create a customized goal plan, providing strategies that target your child’s specific difficulties.
We also provide training for parents or caregivers so that you may learn how to better communicate with your child and help foster their fluent speech in a variety of contexts.
Initial Sound Repetition
Examples of this include “P–p-put the glass over there” or “D–d-did you see that?”
Prolongations
Examples of this include “Come at sssssseven o’clock” and “Nnnnnnnot if I can help it!”
Partial-Word Repetition
Examples of this include “Can I have some wa–wa-water?” and “May–may-maybe we can do that.”
Interjections
Examples of this include “My um, um, um, mother said I couldn’t go” and “There wasn’t anyone there to, like, pick me up.”
on the right path
We understand how important it is to have your child succeed at home, at school, and at life. Stuttering, at minimum, is a nuisance, but for some it can decrease confidence and lead to social anxiety or withdrawal.
Our experienced and empathetic Speech Language Pathologists will help determine which speaking situations result in an increased amount of stutters and develop a tailored plan of strategies to help enhance fluency in a variety of contexts. We will pinpoint their speech errors, identify misproduction patterns, and set your child on the path to clearer speech.
